Q	Why do I need a burglar alarm?
A	Statistics from The Home Office show that homes fitted with an alarm are 70% less likely to be burgled.ﾠ But no matter how effective an alarm system is, it cannot reduce the risk to zero.ﾠ What it can do, however, is make sure that an intruder stays in your property for the minimum amount of time, probably no more than a couple of minutes.ﾠ Of course, no one wants to be burgled, but it is better for your video or TV to be stolen (home contents insurance protects you against this eventuality) than for your home to be ransacked.ﾠ It is the devastation that burglars leave behind that invariably causes the most emotional distress.
Q	Is it a good idea to fit my own burglar alarm?
A	The main benefit to fitting your own alarm is one of cost.ﾠ Depending on where you live in the UK, a typical alarm system for a three bedroomed semi-detached house will cost between £500 and £700.ﾠ By comparison, the Powermax system costs around (see starter packs) including VAT, and P&P.ﾠ You do not compromise on quality, as the components in the Powermax system are the same as those found within a professionally installed alarm.
Q	Do I need a lot of technical 'know-how' to install the Powermax system?
A	Anyone of average DIY competence will have no difficulty in installing the Powermax system.ﾠ Our comprehensive instruction manual will give you all the guidance you need.ﾠ It is important however to give careful thought to planning your system in order to make sure your property has the best possible protection and that installation can be carried out easily.
Q	Will my home contents insurance be reduced because I have a burglar alarm?
A	Insurance companies only give discounts for alarms that have been professionally fitted by companies who are registered with one of the recognised professional security bodies.ﾠ The most important aspect of any alarm system is that it works easily and efficiently to provide you with complete peace of mind and security.ﾠ Powermax products have been tried and tested by many delighted customers around the world.
Q	Where should I site the Powermax control panel?
A	In most homes, the hallway is the best location for the control panel, as it is in the centre of the home and will allow you to listen in via the built-in sounder and microphone.
Q	What electrical supply do I need?
A	The Powermax control panel is fitted with a 9-volt power supply and a 3-pin plug, which is supplied but not fitted.
Q	How do the Sensors work?
A	Each sensor has a Lithium battery, which will last between one and two years.ﾠ The Powermax control panel will indicate on the LCD display if a battery is low.
Q	Where should the sensors be situated?
A	The standard ceiling height is 2.4 metres, which is a suitable height for the sensors to be situated.ﾠ They can be mounted on wall, corner or ceiling brackets.
Q	What is the coverage area of a sensor?
A	Each sensor will cover an area of approximately 12 metres distance.
Q	What is the maximum distance between the sensors and the control panel?
A	The sensors can be sited anywhere within a 50 metre range of the control panel.
Q	What happens if there is a power cut?
A	In the event of mains electricity failure, the control panel's battery back-up will provide a minimum of 8 hours power supply to the Powermax system.ﾠ When the mains electricity supply is restored, the control panel will automatically recharge the system.
