Frequency Switch

Changes for Visonic's Wireless Alarms

Visonic have recently switched frequency for all there new wireless alarm systems.

Our PowerMax Plus products and the hybrid PowerCode range have moved from 433MHz to 868. With the impending release of EN50131-5-3 we now plan to focus our efforts on 868MHz in conjunction with EN50131-1, DD243 and PD6662.

Managing Director of Visonic Uk Mr Keith Donovan said: This is part of our strategy to ensure that installers and consumers get the best possible use of our wireless alarm products.  The switch in frequency is good news, as it will improve reliability and functionality."

It has been known for some time that 433MHz remains a very busy and congested part of the radio spectrum and therefore its effectiveness as a medium for radio security systems, going forward has to be questioned. The new 868MHz bands potentially provide a more stable and reliable medium for wireless communication within the UK security market.

Visonic pointed out that customers with existing alarm systems will not lose out, as Visonic will continue to service and sell spares for systems using the old frequency for the foreseeable future, although the number of products available would be reduced on an on-going basis. What is for sure is that the change will increase the reliability and functionality of our wireless alarms.
